Governance
Day-to-day operation of the firm is overseen by the Managing Partner, with strategic direction set by an Executive Committee composed of senior partners across the firm's principal practice groups. The Executive Committee reviews firm performance quarterly and considers major strategic questions on a rolling basis.
Practice groups are led by partners with the substantive depth and management experience appropriate to the size and complexity of the group. Practice leaders are responsible for staffing, training, quality, and strategic development of their groups, in close coordination with firm leadership.
The firm operates without elaborate management bureaucracy. We have found that small, accountable leadership groups make better decisions, faster, than committee-based structures — and that this leaves our lawyers free to spend their time on the substantive work that matters to clients.
