Biography

David Austin is Senior Counsel at Andrew & Hopkins, advising corporations, family offices, and senior executives on the full spectrum of tax matters: tax advisory and planning, corporate and business taxation, tax disputes and litigation, indirect taxes (VAT, customs, excise), and tax compliance and regulatory advisory. David's practice is built around the cross-border structures that define modern multinational enterprise.

His focus is the architecture itself — how transactions are structured to operate across multiple tax regimes without creating exposure that compounds in unexpected jurisdictions, and how that architecture must adapt as regulators in the U.S., U.K., and EU recalibrate. David regularly partners with the firm's corporate and litigation teams to deliver integrated tax due diligence, post-closing implementation, and dispute representation before tax authorities, and he is sought out for matters where indirect tax regimes intersect with substantive corporate-tax planning.

Based in London with deep U.S. and continental European reach, David is admitted in New York, the U.S. Tax Court, and as a Solicitor of England & Wales. He advises in English and German.
